About Premier Moving & Storage
Premier Moving & Storage has been in business in Columbia, MO serving Mid-Missouri since 1957, when our business began as Simmons Moving & Storage Co. For business and household moving companies in Columbia, our name says it all – the Premier of all long distance moving, local moving, and storage services.
Our founder, Fred Simmons, was a University of Missouri football player under Coach Don Faurot, a baseball player for Mizzou, a Big Band Leader, a husband, and father active in his community.
In 1959 Simmons Moving & Storage Co. became an Agent for North American Van Lines, making us the Mid-Missouri representative for over 59 years!
In 2003 we changed our name to Premier Moving & Storage, Inc.
Rest assured the change was in name only as our owner and management remained the same.
In 2016, we saw another expansion as a major competitor left the Mid-Missouri market and we increased our staff with new highly experienced moving and storage professionals. We continue to uphold Fred’s intent to serve our community, providing every family and business with respect and high standards of service. Premier Moving and Storage is licensed and insured, adhering to high professional standards and Department of Transportation regulations.
In 2019, Owners retire, and Premier’s ownership transitions from Allen Beeson to Operations Manager Tony Wayne. As new owners, Tony and Natalie Wayne bring their talents and experience to the next chapter of Premier’s long tradition serving Mid-Missouri moving and storage customers. With Tony’s leadership during the prior year, commercial turnkey storage and delivery services were expanded with new customers. The home office and the crews are connected to a single software that tracks all aspects of a move in real-time. From the quoting system through the completion of a job, every detail is shared and communicated with customers and crews on computers and mobile devices. This brings more efficiency and greater clarity for all parties.
2019 also brings more involvement with the Columbia community, starting with Premier committing to a multi-year sponsorship of the Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival, an annual major music festival held each fall in Columbia, Missouri.
Premier Moving and Storage continues to grow as Columbia grows, forging new partnerships with growing businesses and growing families and carrying on the family business tradition and spirit that started long ago.
